Wrinkles

"At some sites evaluated, subjects who received GSH showed a significant reduction in wrinkles compared with those taking placebo." Weschawalit, S., Thongthip, S., Phutrakool, P., & Asawanonda, P. (2017). Glutathione and its antiaging and antimelanogenic effects. Clinical, cosmetic and investigational dermatology, 10, 147–153. https://doi.org/10.2147/CCID.S128339 "These results suggest GSH supplementation is of considerable benefit to patients above 55 years, not only supporting decreased glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and 8-OHdG but also increasing fasting insulin" Kalamkar, S., Acharya, J., Kolappurath Madathil, A., Gajjar, V., Divate, U., Karandikar-Iyer, S., Goel, P., & Ghaskadbi, S. (2022). Randomized Clinical Trial of How Long-Term Glutathione Supplementation Offers Protection from Oxidative Damage and Improves HbA1c in Elderly Type 2 Diabetic Patients. Antioxidants (Basel, Switzerland), 11(5), 1026. https://doi.org/10.3390/antiox11051026 "Conclusion: The daily oral administration of 500 mg L-Cystine and 250 mg L-Glutathione during 12 weeks was a safe treatment to effectively lighten the skin and reduce the size of facial dark spots of Asian women." CONFLICT OF INTEREST JD and RS report being employees of BCF Life Sciences, and KT, PT, and FP report being employees of Spincontrol Asia during the conduct of the study and at present. JD and RS report a published patent WO2020/165084A1. All authors state that they have no conflict of interest. "Our findings that γ-GC can increase GSH levels in healthy subjects suggests that it may have potential as an adjunct for treating diseases associated with chronic GSH depletion" Zarka, Martin Hani, and Wallace John Bridge. “Oral administration of γ-glutamylcysteine increases intracellular glutathione levels above homeostasis in a randomised human trial pilot study.” Redox biology vol. 11 (2017): 631-636. doi:10.1016/j.redox.2017.01.014

Glutathione supps on insulin sensitivity

"Oral GSH supplementation improves insulin sensitivity in obese subjects with and without T2DM, although it does not alter markers of oxidative stress" Søndergård, Stine D et al. “The effects of 3 weeks of oral glutathione supplementation on whole body insulin sensitivity in obese males with and without type 2 diabetes: a randomized trial.” Applied physiology, nutrition, and metabolism = Physiologie appliquee, nutrition et metabolisme vol. 46,9 (2021): 1133-1142. doi:10.1139/apnm-2020-1099

Glutathione supps on body stores of glutathione

"These findings show, for the first time, that daily consumption of GSH supplements was effective at increasing body compartment stores of GSH." Richie, John P Jr et al. “Randomized controlled trial of oral glutathione supplementation on body stores of glutathione.” European journal of nutrition vol. 54,2 (2015): 251-63. doi:10.1007/s00394-014-0706-z "Conclusions: Collectively, these preliminary findings support the effectiveness of daily liposomal GSH administration at elevating stores of GSH and impacting the immune function and levels of oxidative stress." Sinha, R., Sinha, I., Calcagnotto, A., Trushin, N., Haley, J. S., Schell, T. D., & Richie, J. P., Jr (2018). Oral supplementation with liposomal glutathione elevates body stores of glutathione and markers of immune function. Decreased glutathione in acne patients

"Conclusions: We conclude that a decline in antioxidative activity led by a decrease in GSH quantity may play an important role in pathogenesis of acne vulgaris. The use of α-MSH may further decrease the GSH level." Ikeno, Hiroshi et al. “Decrease in glutathione may be involved in pathogenesis of acne vulgaris.” Journal of cosmetic dermatology vol. 10,3 (2011): 240-4. doi:10.1111/j.1473-2165.2011.00570.x
